Mic settings stereo vs mono

I'm new to the DVX, that being said, I bought a shotgun mic for it and have it going into channel one, when wearing headphones the audio is only coming through on of the headphones, i tried the switches in all different possistions, can some one tell me the correct setting for a mic going into channel one to get dual sound. thanks!

You can't get sounds on both audio channels through input 1, only input 2. Set the channel assignment switches underneath where the LCD folds out accordingly. It's usually recommended to set one of the channels' gain a little lower than the other as a safety measure.

To get a mic or any audio source into both channels with just one XLR cable, plug it in to input 2 and then under the LCD, set both audio switches on the left down. If that is what you're asking.

Also, to hack this thread, what does the MIC gain setting do? The one that says -50 or -60 dB under the menu.

MIC gain adjusts how much pre-amplification is done on the mic signal. (I can never remember whether -50 makes it louder or softer than -60.)

If you're getting adequate signal level without having to turn the levels all the way down or up, then you don't need to adjust the gain.
