Mic Question

I've got the unidirectional model mic made for the DVX. The only way to get JUST that mic to record in both left and right channels, you have to put it in the second mic slot and set both channel one and two to input 2 right?

Also, the audio always seems way too quiet no matter what mike I use. Does anyone else notice this and what do you do about it? This may be a known issue, but I'm new here :-[

Re: Mic Question

Make sure your mic/line switch is set to "mic". Also you can check the menu setting for mic impedance, it's -60/-50, try changing that and see if it improves your situation.

Re: Mic Question

Thanks that works fine. What's the difference between boosting the gain and turning up the knobs for channel one and channel two?

Mainly the difference is to accomodate the difference in sensitivities between dynamic (-60dB) mics and condenser (-50dB) mics.

Also, I believe, it is better to get your volume from the preamps for better sound. The closer you can leave the main volume controls to their center position, the better the S/N ratio.
