Mic options for bouncy environment

and sound blanket on top, stretched over them, high enough for your lights obviously.

I figured this would be needed but I've run out of stands and superclamps.

And my lav mic is causing all sorts of interference issues.

So, as this is a passion project, IF I spend any money, it will either be on a Sennheiser ME-2 lav and maybe a few clamps and an overhead blanket .

I've tested a Sennheiser ME-66, Audio Technica AT875r, Samson CO2, Rode lav and Giant Squid lav; the lavs seem the best

I still have an ME-66 I used back in the 90s laying around, I even have the ME-64 and ME-67 capsules for it also. I plugged it into my Sound Devices Mix Pre
last year, just to see what it sounded like since it's been 20 years since I used it. It sounded awful, that is a really bad sounding mic.

The lavs will probably be what you end up using. I assume you're using the lavs wirelessly? If so, stop doing that. Never use wireless when you can run a cable.
Wireless, in comparison to a cable, sucks. I hate wireless mics but we all have to use them periodically. Also, worth getting a few of the Oscar Soundtech 801s and 802s,
they are cheap and sound MUCH better than your Røde or Giant Squid and are less than $100.00 I have three of the 801s, they're really impressive and sound as good as
my Trams, which cost three times as much. http://www.oscarsoundtech.com/

To Pure Drifting

yes, I'm using wireless.

The Fostex R302 recorder doesn't supply "plugin" power, just P48V and none of my mics will work unless I use the wireless system. I can get around this by using a VXLR+ adapter from Rode plus a long extension cable.

I'll look into the Oscar Soundtech but getting them delivered in a timely fashion is the problem. I can get a Sennheiser MKE-2 in a few days.

I was given the ME-66 & ME67 they sound OK but I have nothing to compare them to.

Not sure how long it would take to get OSTs to Australia from New York, probably at least a few weeks.

Just be careful with the ME-66/67. The first time you listen to them and A/B compare them with good, modern mics, it will be painful when you realize how harsh they sound.
I recommend doing anything you can to not use wireless for sit down interviews but I have a Røde, it's decent for an inexpensive wireless.

I'm taking your advice and ordering a couple of Rode VXLR+ adapters (convert P48V to plugin power) and I'll use a 5m XLR cable back to the recorder.

In another post, Paulears suggested trying a ferrite capsule to try and get rid of the interference; unfortunately it didn't work.

Hope that works out for you.

I got hold of the Rode VXLR+ adapters and they work just fine.

Because of the really bad reverb, i'm considering placing moving blankets or perhaps sleeping bags overhead. Anyone else resort to this and how did you support them?

edit; I'm considering a frame like this https://www.snowys.com.au/deluxe-30-gazebo.

This should allow me to safely suspend side and top blankets.

cheers all
