So my mic mount is finally completely hosed. What replacement options are there? I'd look at replacing the top handle as well if needs be. Thank you in advance.
I use the Shape light weight top plate, which fits snugly and has an array of 1/4-20 threaded holes. This has allowed me to attach a small cold shoe adaptor with thumbscrew clamp (from SmallRig), into which I can easily attach any shock mount, I use the one supplied with my Ambient TinyMic (which is amazingly good for the size and price BTW). This has the added benefit of keeping the mic in more-or-less the same position as it sits with the factory 'shock'-mount. Here's a pic:
I'm interested in replacement top handles too, but am too reliant on the XLR-K1M unit that uses the MI shoe on the handle. Building up the courage to do some surgery and CNC myself a new PROPER handle ;-).
I've replaced the rod with the mount on with a smallrig rod that has some threaded holes on one side of it. I've stuck a hotshoe adapter on there and then I can just add or remove an ebay hotshoe suspension mount as and when I see fit, and still have the MI shoe available for my Sony wireless kit. works perfectly
