Mic level into Line level input

Apologies, working on a crappy laptop and not my usual pc. I thought somewhere there was a discussion about talking a mic and plugging it into an unbalanced line to be able to use the line inputs on a dr 60. I am tryng to use this wired lav and the 3.5 adapter it came with is not working when connected to a dr 60. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/944398-REG/polsen__olm_10_omni_directional_lav.html

BH is saying to use this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387850-REG/Rode_VXLR_VXLR_Mono_Mini_Jack.html

But I swear I thought I read somewhere about someone having the same problem and use an unbalanced 3.5.

And to be honest, how can one look at an adapter and see if it is unbalanced? Thanks!

Checking the DR-60 manual it looks like you would normally use the 3-4 Connector ( 3.5mm stereo mini jack ) input, but you might have to adjust the DR-60 menu settings to get it to work.

This input works with standard non-powered LAV mics but you have to turn ON "plug-in" power using the DR-60 menus.

This will also work with your DR-60 XLR inputs set to MIC level input. ( this requires that your LAV mic has a working battery or you will get no signal at all )

Thanks for the reply. The problem is I want to use two of them at the same time. So somehow I need to get L1 or L2 working.

I really hoped I could use some line/mic adapter rather than the the rode XLR adapter. I wouldn't mind it if I was home could order and receive it but not easy where I currently am. Thanks,

I am pretty sure that the DR-60D uses combi XLR inputs that can accept both XLR and 1/4 inch inputs, so you might be able to get a mini-plug to 1/4 adapter to work. ( again you would set your DR-60D to MIC level input and your LAV mics would have to be self-powered )

Yes, the Tascam recorders do use the combination connectors. But for the DR60 I think you could use the 1/8 input for stereo mics and I think it supplies power too, check the user manual if this is something that might help.
