The Sony "handle" is pretty weak. I've never used mine as the first camera I used had one that was falling to bits. I'd not bother with a Sony replacement...

I use a Zacuto top handle and tri-mount. Expensive, yes. But it's solid and works well.

But your pic shows the mic mount taped up rather than the handle... You could remove the handle and fit a Rode SM3 into the coldshoe mount.

Agree with the poster above about it being weak. Mine broke too, but at a different spot.
I remember a replacement one is about 80-90$, but your dealer will have to order it. And I don't think Sony is still making a lot of these.

As for me, I might still get one, just to keep the camera intact for resale value. People can easily ask over a 100$ off for a broken mic handle.

At the same time I am also looking for a handle that not only works on the fs100, but also on my next cameras.
The shot grip handle, and wooden camera nato rail handle both seem like interesting options.

Vocas are bringing out a new handle, saw the prototype two weeks ago and its a solid design, though I imagine very expensive.

You can see our original ShotGrip Top Handle custom made for the FS100.

Alot of shooters on the list here swear by it. It's at the link below -

You can order a replacement mic holder from Sony Professional Services, but you'd need to do some resaerch to find out the part number. I got the fs700 top handle assembly + FMU dummy plate from them and it worked out fine. Shipped from Japan after a couple of weeks. I have this image but unfortunately it doesn't tell you the mic holder part number. It's for the 700 but the mic holder is the same for both.

edit: the website again has made my image tiny. no idea how to avoid this

alas they wouldnt let me photograph it, as it was the prototype, but it is going to be released in the near future, it is in two formats from what I remember, 15, and 19, and features an arri rosette, like I said its going to be pricey. What I really need is a tech drawing of the screws and hole positions and what threads they are as I know a fabricator who would make it for a third of the price.
