Mic Gain Question.

Had some sound problems this week end, when I recorded some live music ( acoustic, but put through a PA system, no extreme sound level ) with my ME64 mic as main sound source. Even though I balanced the input signal below the red area on the meter, the voice of the singer appears distorted.
It wasn't distorted during the performance, so this have led me to believe that either:

1. my ME64 isn't functioning properly. Damaged in some way. ( it's brand new, so that option doesn't seem likely )
2. I forgot to configurate the DVX´s audio menus in some way that I really should have.

I've looked in the manual, but only found two settings that seem to adress a problem of this kind. The "Mic ALC", which was set to the default position 'ON' during the recording, or the "Mic Gain" setting which was also set to the default position '-50dBu'.
I must confess that I'm not really shure what '-60dBu' would do in a similar situation, and the manual is pretty sparce on imformation about this.
Have anybody out there of my fellow DVXusers any helpful insights into this dilemma?
thanx

Re: Mic Gain Question.

The -50 or -60 refers to mic sensitivity. It'll control how loud your microphone is. Some mics are more sensitive than others, and if you mismatch the sensitivity, you'll either have really quiet audio or way too loud, so you switch the sensitivity to match the mic.

Doesn't sound like that'd be what happened to you, because if you had mismatched sensitivity you'd see it reflected on the level meters.
