mic connections: lav and shotgun

first off, i'm a proud, new owner of a dvx-100a, and damn it's a sexy beast. glad to be part of the crowd.

for a film i'm shooting, i would like to have remote lavalier mics as well as a shotgun mic.

i am assuming that i will be bringing in the shotgun through the XLR 1 connector, and then the remote lavaliers receiver into XLR 2.

can i get two lavs off that one XLR2 connection? or does each lav require a separate XLR?

thanks,

art

Re: mic connections: lav and shotgun

Congrats on the new DVX. I'd strongly recommend renting a simple field mixer like a Sound Devices 302 or a Shure FP-33 for your production. They run about $30 a day and are pretty much a necessity if you're using more than two mics. Typically, you'd route the boom mic to one channel and mix the two lavs down to the other channel.

You could run your lav's into an external mixer, then the mixer into the dvx... using the external mixer to do your submix
