Nearly perfect casting. Here's the D-List version;

Leslie Nielsen as Hannibal
Steve Guttenberg as Face
Sean William Scott as Murdock
and George Wallace as BA Baracus

Since we're on the subject of 80's show remakes, how about MANIMAL!!!

I think sometimes we forget that not everyone was around to watch some of the older shows and movies and it's great when directors bring classics back because it exposes a new generation to something that you loved when you were younger.

I saw it tonight in Pittsburgh. loved it. The action scenes were amazing! The grain was pretty bad in some parts (I get a lot better results with my HVX) but it's not something that would stop me from seeing the movie.

Haven't seen it yet. I'll wait for the DVD. Wasn't impressed with the trailer. Is Mann running out of ideas? A Miami Vice movie sounds kind of lame.

It's not based on the show.

Except for the character names and title I understand its very different.

His purpose, or so i have read, was to make as realistic a movie about undercover narcotics as has ever been made. And that intrigues and excites me.

Lame??

This is Michael Mann we're talking about. A master filmmaker.

As Machinist has stated, this isn't a rehashing of the tv show, but something else entirely different. A realistic, crime, thriller. What Mann does best.

I dunno man, from the trailer, it looked like a lot of explosions and sexy boats, with a hip-hop soundtrack, and super beautiful cops to me. Pretty much exactly like the show. Minus, Elvis, of course.

I just hope Glen Fry makes an appearance.

super beautiful cops

You saying real cops can't be sexy?

I have a friend who works for the 44th precinct in the Bronx who would disagree.

And I think the trailer you're refering to is targeting a certain audience. The 10 clips I've seen posted on another website painted an entirely different picture.

Miami Vice

Miami Vice

Recently I have been watching the A-Team, Knight Rider, and Miami Vice on Sleuth TV. I initially thought that this movie would be trash because of the actors would not be able to replace suave guys like Crocket and Tubbs, but I think Michael Mann has pulled off another great movie a la Heat. I enjoyed watching movies such as Two Brothers and Collateral that utilized the faster frame rate. In the recent commercials for Miami Vice I get the feeling that this will be a powerful movie and the frame rate will only increase the intensity. This is the only movie since Brokeback Mountain that I have looked forward to seeing. What do you guys think about what Michael Mann has opted to do and what are your prospects for the film?

I hate colin ferril (sp?), so I'm not excited about the film on that basis. I skimmed American Cinematographer today and got excited that its HD. I'm also very interested in the look, but not say the movie.

I hate Colin Farrel as well. I think the guy fancies himself too much and is playing the role of a babbling idiot to be cute, I would hate to know that this is who he really is. In this film and in the promo they did for spike TV the other guys was the one who was charismatic. However, I hate his ass too. But I think overall the film will be on the level of Heat not counting Dinero and Pacino. At least that is what I am hoping, if everyone plays their cards right.

Gentlemen, we're missing the key component here. Which is that my boys from Nonpoint (band I met in miami) are finally getting some big exposure with the phil collins cover.

well i just came from seeing it...and went in without any expectations because i never watched the TV show...so to me it delivered. all i really want to say is gong li is amazing.

outside of that...i think the grain was done on purpose much like soderbergh making the canon xl-1 look bad. not saying mann is trying to make the viper look bad, just that he was obviously trying to achieve a certain look - of which a camera guy i met at the preview said he liked it. film grain or noise is random this was just sitting there like somebody laid a mask on top of the shot or something. i say this because i've shot in low light situations at night and didn't get that amount of grain...it's almost like making it look like 8mm film to a degree.

anyway there are some bullet hits that are outright insane...the whole crowd "oohhh"

finally hans moleman...

heard the nonpoint remake of the collins hit and it was realy good...but that's me i'm a guitarist.

the flick is good. just enough action, sex, and storyline.

had alot of similiarities to collateral with the audioslave music and even several of the actors. also, he must have become a deadwood fan, because i recognized not one but two actors in the movies first couple of minutes.

thank god mann made this movie. i think in the hands of anyone else it would have been complete and utter camp.

I pretty well hated the movie. The storyline wasn't interesting (oh no a drug bust how original) and then random sex scenes throughout the movie.

None of the actors really seemed to have chemistry together.

ok so you didnt like it. i plan on seeing it for 3 reasons. mann.foxx.gong...li.....mmmmmmmmmmm.
