Miami Heat in NBA Playoffs! Bring it on Mavs (and Heat Haters!)

Got to love it Chuck, reminds me of the good ole days when everyone north of Palm Beach county hated the Hurricanes. I loved going around the country at the time and finding a few Mavericks {No Pun Intended } that wore our Team's apparel despite being in places like Texas, Southern Cal etc.. It's us against the world all over again, lol......

What the experts are saying-

Me:
It's gonna come down to D and rebounds...
Game One OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS- Miami 16, Dallas 6

Magic Johnson:
They’re going to have their run. This is their time now,” Magic said Tuesday. “I said all along, once they win one, they’re going to win two or three, probably in a row.” Four wouldn’t surprise him either.
“The potential is there because you have two of the best players and then the other guy is one of the top 10,” he said. “I like how Pat Riley has put excellent shooters around them. Mike Miller can get you double figures anytime. Back in the day, Boston and the Lakers — we set the way. We had our run. Chicago, Detroit and Houston had their run. Miami is going to have their run. This has been great for the league. You have to get your own big two and big three” to compete with Miami.
Charles Barkley
Hey, Charles Barkley, don’t you have extra respect for James, Wade and Bosh for giving up $15 million apiece to make cap room for other players? “No!” Barkley snapped off air. “Stop saying they gave up a lot of money! They’re going to get that money back.” C’mon, Chuck.
Udonis Haslem:
“Some people wait to hate,” Udonis Haslem said. “They’ll throw up a little hate sign.” And Haslem wonders, “You’ve been waiting here to do that?’”
Zydrunas Ilgauskas
“A lot more [expletives] come out now, people screaming stuff across the street you can’t print. You go to a restaurant you’ve gone to for many years. The waiter would have smiled before. Now he just looks at you funny.”
Shawn Marion:
“I’ll tell you this,” Marion said. “We didn’t win too many games getting 67 shots.”
Shaquille O'Neal (via Twitter):
im retiring

Speaking of Shaq (thanks for the segue opportunity), he is much more of a mercenary than LeBron, bouncing (like a 325 lb ball) from the MagictotheLakerstotheHeattotheSunstotheCavstotheCeltics.
So why wasn't he a greedy villain, chasing a fifth ring???

He didn't announce the teams he was going to on a tacky ESPN show, but he announces his retirement by Twitter?
Leaving a Celtics spokesman to say:
"To my knowledge, he has not informed any of us that he's retiring"
On the other hand, saying:
"LeBron, D-Wade, I saw the comments you guys said about me. Appreciate it very much. It was an honor playing with you two guys. You guys made me better. You guys are legends, future Hall of Famers. Go get that ring, baby. Love you guys. Peace."
And back to the Most Hated Team/Yankees analogy, the Lakers are the Yankees of the NBA- love em or hate em, and Kobe is the A Rod, love em or hate em, no middle ground on either.

Game face on!!!

Go Heat!!!

No doubt. Nowitzki's 24 was good, but Wade scored 50% more with 36.
Lebron had "only" 20 (same as Marion). Wade and LB both get 25+ means trouble.

And if Dallas' defense hadn't stepped up (outrebounding Miami 41-30) in the 4th quarter, it would've been all Miami.
Looking forward to Game 3. 4 and 5 also.

And don't forget, an ostrich can kill you with its legs!

Awesome awesome game; Dallas has been coming back the entire playoffs .... Just awesome. Dirk is clutch. What was with Wade's flop wanna call ?

Glad to see you guys stayed up for the end of the game.

It was pretty quiet around here after Game 1

Game 2 was a classic Fourth Quarter Heat Collapse- a well documented phenomenon.
(of course you need cooperation from the opposing team in the form of baskets for this to happen...).

The Heat also tends to play with a particular fury after collapses, so I must say I'm looking forward to Game 3 in Dallas, y'all!!!

Giddyap!

I still can't believe Bosh was guarding Nowitzki in that situation - what a game

I said the same thing! Dirk ran right by him and scored with a torn tendon! Every team in the league should know Dirk's drive by now, him and Paul Pierce are very predictable in these situations.

Miami tends to blow big leads like this, they play better when the game is close throughout. Sounds ridiculous but they get too relaxed with plenty of time left in the game. But chuck is right, they do come back with a fury after an embarrassing loss (Chicago series) and they actually played better away than at home throughout the season. I hope the Dallas crowd brings it, I've been enjoying the crowd reactions when LBJ shoot an improbable 3 in their hearts. Boston & Chicago knows it all too well.

Not pretty- gritty, actually.

But even with the abundance of bogus calls (and non-calls) by the refs, a win in the first game in Dallas is sweet...

I'll never understand how NBA refs can be so consistently inconsistent. By far the worst referees in all of sports (Hockey's a near second)

Well, they were pretty consistently pro-Mavs tonight.
Often, they'll balance a first half called in favor of one team with a second half leaning the other way. Not tonight.

But even more annoying than the non-calls on the Mavs, or that they were calling fouls on the Heat, was that they were calling the little stuff that shouldn't be called in the playoffs, especially the finals- let 'em play, and play hard!

Well, if you believe Tim Donaghy (and many do), it's by design that they are the "worst".
And I thought it was just because they were Western Conf refs...

Good 60 Minutes story- thanks. (BTW, how do you embed a link like in Tim Donaghy?)

From 60 Minutes:
"I knew that there were certain relationships that existed between referees and players, referees and coaches, and referees and owners that influence the point spreads in games," Donaghy explained...
Donaghy told us that two years ago Alan Iverson had incurred the wrath of the refs.
"He had threatened one of our officials and the NBA fined him $25,000. And we felt as a group that he should have been suspended. And because he wasn't, we felt like we would teach him a lesson," Donaghy recalled.
When he worked an Iverson game on Jan. 6, 2007, he bet against Iverson's team.
"Because you knew that all the refs were gunning for him? This was openly discussed?" Simon asked.
"Openly discussed," Donaghy claimed. "And I knew that the other two referees and I sought out to do a little justice of our own."
The refs quickly called curious fouls on Iverson, including rarely called fouls for palming. It threw his game off, and his team lost...
Donaghy not only confessed his own sins to the FBI, he also blew the whistle on the NBA. He claimed that in the playoffs the NBA does everything possible to extend series and to help big market teams advance.

Tuesday night should be an..."interesting" game!
