We use a Sekonic DigiPro meter set to 320 ASA at 24 or 30fps. This is based on 1/48 or 1/60 (180°) shutter as typical. You will have to adjust for NDs or changes to shutter angle. Naturally, zebras should be used to fine tune and double-check exposure.
Our meter is very simple - it doesn't do lux or footcandles, which are the preferred measure techniques of the lighting technician and many DPs.
I work very casually in lighting - knowing just enough about the fixtures at-hand to get the level I need. If you can change framerates and ISO rating, you should be able to arrive at a number that'll get you in the ballpark.
