GH4 Metadata - what's retained?

So I have a few shots from an earlier project for which I didn't keep excellent notes, and now I have need to match it for additional material.

Given a 4K .mov file, is there any way to recover information about shot profile, etc?


...and yes, I have been and will be keeping better notes in the future.
 
bundled software? Was there a DVD in the box that I tossed in a storage bin along with all the other packaging and documentation?

edit... hm, so there was.

So I dug up the old DVD, then dug up an old laptop with an old optical drive and loaded "Silkypix" onto my iMac. Can't open a dang thing except the camera raw files. Was there another bundled software you meant?

It's called PHOTOfunSTUDIO 9.5 PE. I uninstlled it as it's not very friendly and doesn't have the one piece of information I most often can't remember. ISO of course :)

It does show ISO for still though.

Yes, Exiftool works and every piece of information you'd need is there, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, picture profile, even sharpness and contrast settings although they aren't numerical for some reason. Took a while for me to figure out so for people on on OS X, install the package, open terminal and type: exiftool (leave a space after exiftool, then before hitting return drag your mov file into the terminal window. It will leave directory info for your clip. Hit return and it should spit out a list. This is what a list looks like from one of my clips. Exposure and focal length says ZERO because I was using a manual lens.

FYI, on Mac OSX I tried one of the GUI interfaces for exiftool but it kept crashing everytime I tried loading a MOV file, so it's only terminal for now. I hope they update FCP X to take advantage of this metadata, as it would be useful.

If you use a LUMIX lens there is even more useful info, including crop factor and 35mm lens equivalent focal length.
