FS7: Metabones Ultra Connection problem

I'm having an issue with my metabones ultra adapter. When I try to connect my Canon 135mm f2 I almost never get a successfull connection anymore and at times have connection issues with other lenses. I've had issue with previous metabones speedboosters for my BMPCC where the pins on the lens side didn't fully retract, however, this doesn't seem to be the case here. Can anyone suggest anything else I can try (i.e. how to clean the contacts, bang with a hammer, etc.)

Thank you!

Update - it appears that when the issue occurs it occurs with any lens. The solution is to restart the camera and then it starts to recognize the lenses again.

What does this mean? Is it an issue with the camera or speedbooster? Has anyone experienced this before?

I think it's the Ultra. I have serious issues with mine now. Camera either locks up on a black screen on power up or the aperture doesn't work. I often have to start the camera without the Speedbooster, then attach it to even get the camera on properly.
It was random in the beginning, but now it seems to be most times.
I think I have to hand it in for service tomorrow

I've had the metabones just not work occasionally but not often - don't know if its the SPeedbooster or MarkIV or both. Usually just remounting resets it or sometimes a camera restart is necessary. Seems like it just needs to "clear its head" . Has not been a consistent or worsening problem , just a minor annoyance. I have heard of them going bad though which is one reason I have both adapters.

I thankfully have a commlite as well. Will bring that to work tomorrow. It's controlled lighting so I won't risk that ugly flare they are prone to.

I have the feeling that the pins get stuck on these adapters or just don't seat properly.

I have a Commlite, Metabones IV, Kipon Baveyes (their version of Speedbooster) and the DEC remote control adapter. So far, no problems with any of them but it's inevitable.

FWIW - I have added flocking material to the inside of mine and it works very well. Have 2 of them now.

I have only had canon L lenses on my camera. Still got problems. Doesn't look like the pins are the problem, but hard to tell. What is flocking?

One thing I've discovered in testing other ports on Sony cameras, including the LANC and Wifi on the FS7 is that there are conditions where sending an illegal message results in the camera refusing all future legal messages for the same function until the camera has been power cycled. For instance, if the legal range of zoom commands is -8 to 8 (integer values) sending -9, 15, or 3.14 would be illegal, and would result in the camera ignoring all future zoom messages until power cycled.

How this is potentially relevant to the Metabones is that if for any reason a Metabones sent a single illegal message, the camera might stop responding to subsequent requests. As for why or how the Metabones could send an illegal message, a number of possibilities exist from poor firmware coding to dirty pins, misaligned pins, etc. Since the adapter in question appears to have had increasing frequency of failure over time, I'd think it's a pin electrical contact issue. Dirty, poorly aligned, short circuited - a number of possibilities. If even a single logical bit gets misread there's the potential for the camera to stop responding.
