GH4 Metabones Speedbooster vs Aputure DEC Lens Regain

The main difference is that with the DEC, you can ONLY use the remote to change aperture. There are no connecting pins to the camera so there will never be in body control of the iris.

So unless you are using your G7 on a gimbal all the time, or plan to use the remote with it all the time, the Metabones will be a more practical choice.

HTH!

Cheers,

Paul :)

Anders Øvergaard did a very nice review of the DEC Lensregain. One of his few complaints is, as Paul points out above, that you can't control the aperature on the camera. And if it is true that there is no electronic connection between the DEC and the camera, then they will not be able to add that functionality. So yes, Pauls point is really something to consider

Here is a link to the review. Anders also compares the DEC to a Speedbooster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daZKNaUtEG4

Thanks folks. I studied Anders' video carefully, and looking closely at the camera-side of the DEC, there's no electronic contacts at all. So to the camera body, it'll look like a dumb adapter, and all electronic control (focus, aperture) will have to be via the DEC controller, independent of the camera body.

That's quite a trade off indeed... though the focus stops look like a real neat feature.

You're welcome! Yes, the focus rack feature looks really neat. I think you can even control the speed of the focus rack with the rocker switch  Unfortunately, it also looks like it has a built in non removeable proprietary battery in the remote handle as well as the transmitter - which is something I personally don't like.:-Mad(DBG):
