FS7: Metabones Speedbooster Ultra + Sigma 35 1.4 Art + FS7 - Iris gone crazy

So during an interview shoot i noticed my Speedbooster + Sigma 35 1.4 Art went crazy. The iriz rocketed up and down like a dragracer. From 1.4 to 16 and back down.

Not a single button was pressed by accident. Nobody touched the camera. Camera was set to manual mode. CineEI. Camera was recording.

I have now updated the Speedbooster firmware, and will keep eyes out for this to happen again.

Has anyone else had this bug?

Make sure your contacts are clean, no dust or dirt on the contacts. Sometimes a hair or similar will cause intermittent function on electronic lenses.

Chances are twice as likely when using an adapter as there are now twice as many contacts.

The camera shot 30 minutes of interview flawlessly before it happened. I did not take the adapter on and off, or adjusted it so that some grit between the contacts would fall out. I simply stopped and started the recording, and everything went fine after that.

I hope indeed it was just a hair on a contact, ofcourse!

What was your firmware version before you updated please? And did you use Green mode or Advanced mode? Thanks.

Advanced mode.

Zero clue about previous firmware revision. Bought the ULTRA unit in october 2014, fresh from factory. Not updated since that, until this week.

Experienced zero bugs with said lens on the FS700 in almost a year, before i swapped cams.

Reading the firmware release history, V40 released 2015-02-03 said "Reliability improvements with some Sigma and Tamron lenses" so chances are good that the issue with your Sigma 35/1.4 Art is indeed fixed. But please let us know if it turns out to be not the case.
