Anyone here using a metabones speedbooster “S” version with their GH5 / GH5S?

I was about to rent a GH5S for a week to see if I’d like to upgrade but am worried the “S” version might not be compatible (not being sold anymore by metabones).

the newer versions are supposed to have better optics and/or coatings. if it's main use is for video i'm pretty sure no one could tell the difference. if you can get an S cheap its better than getting a cloned speedbooster, thats for sure.

I'm not so sure - the Viltrox EF-M2 doesn't give up anything in optical terms to the current metabones focal reducers but is significantly cheaper. If you are wanting to use EF lenses that is

How do you adjust the focus on the Viltrox? Is it a little set screw you loosen and then turn the elements the same as many other focal reducers?

The same as the Metabones but better - the optical group is on a thread and you turn it to set your focus sync but unlike the Metabones the thread is set in damping grease like an MF lens so doesn't need locking and thus isn't decentered when a lock screw is used.....
