Metabones mk iv random aperture change on a7sii - as anyone got this problem? My lens keep jumping to 4.5 and 5.4 no matter what i do. The bug happens 2-3 times an hour. It has happened on the canon24-70, tamron70-200,canon 35mm 1.4. I updated my metabones but its not better - the commlite adapter at least didnt have that.

Anyone has an idea of how to stop it?

I have the A7SII and the Tamron 70-200 and I would like to try and see if I get the same result. Can you tell me more about your settings? Are you in movie mode? If yes, which movie mode (P, S, A, M)? Was the lens in AF or MF? Is a movie recording in progress while it happened? Was 4.5 and 5.4 displayed on the camera, or did you visually inspect the iris? Any other details you would like to add?

Are you using a battery grip by chance? I bought an aftermarket brand (not Sony) and it randomly changes my aperture. So I just switch the controls to "off" - it still powers my a7Rii but I just cannot use the vertical shutter release or any of the controls on the grip itself. Which doesn't matter to me because I just want the longer runtime.

Yes i am(the vello) - woa thanks a lot of its that! I will try it with the power off.

more info : it happens regardless that im recording a movie or not. Im in movie mode when it happens, and manual at that. It does in AF and MF mode. Picture profiles also dont seem to matter. Im in manuel shutter/aperture mode. The lens number changes on the screen. It goes from 2.8 to 4.0 , on its own, screen and lens.

just tested with the battery grip off - fstop is stable.. Only issue i have now is that sometimes - with non-is lenses, i get the steadyshot message appearing ''steadyshot is currently in automatic mode''. Right now the only issue i have is with the C3 custom button. It behaves erratically and fires sometimes even though im not pressing on it. Thanks a lot digital innovations! Life saver.

If you don't attach the grip at all, does it still display the "steadyshot is currently in automatic mode" message? Which lens is displaying that message?

So far, only the 35mm 1.4, my only non-is lens.
Actually all my lenses will occasionally activate the C3 button - im pretty sure its the Vello battery GRIP acting up, even when its at OFF. But having the c3 button activate on its own is nowhere near as annoying as aperture changing on its own.

Thank you for your updates. So, none of the problems can be attributed to Metabones but all of them are bugs of the grip.

Im now 99.9% sure it is the case. When using a third party battery grip - always set it to ''OFF'' - it saves a lot of problem.
