Merlin question.

Hey guys (and a few gals)... just picked up the Merlin, and I just wanted to make sure I got it set up right. I'm sure I do... just looking for reinforcement.

How many weights do you have on the bottom, and the mid?

p.s. No other hardware on camera. Just camera (with factory "matte box"), and tape.
 
Yeah... but the cookbook says one thing, then I watched the dvd that came with it, and the dude puts on more weights than recommended in the cookbook. WTF?
 
The DVD was made first - the Cookbook is updated regularly. Use the cookbook settings.

Garrett ("the dude") says that after the DVD was completed, they improved the DVX100 settings. - In general, the less weights (and the lighter the rig) needed to balance, the better.

I think that is the first time ever, anywhere, that I have heard Garrett Brown referred to as "the dude". Gotta love dvxuser users :D
