Merlin in stock

Looks like you have about 12 hours to order, with about a week to 10 days between.

In case anyone's missed it, DO NOT count on the email notification! Just keep checking.

I'm not getting any commision from anyone.

I too am amazed at the rate B&H is selling these things! - Though I do understand why they are popular :)

I haven't posted any Merlin clips yet.

I think Ncje is the only person to have posted any Merlin footage.

Why is it so great? "Magic"

Played with it today, pretty neat. Footage is really good even for a rookie.

The trim is the key, what weights are you guys using that have one? The manual says 4 of the big ones for the 100A, but the video the guy puts 5 on. Mine seems to be too bottom heavy with the 5 and the finish weight, but about right without the finish weight (arc is 13.25" and the gimbal collar is lowered about 1/2).

It's an arm workout to...

I dont know of anyone firsthand who has one, and mine's not here yet. So I cannot advise on the trim/weights just yet. :) But will when I can.

Are you trimming with the dvx alone, or do you have any other accessories? (mattebox, mic ?)

Today i was using it with a 5400 mAH battery and the MC100 mic.

it's a real balancing act to get it a tick bottom heavy, but not too much. Setting it up perfect is a real art

hey drivinhard, what do you mean by gimbal collar "lowered about 1/2"?

went up to b&h and picked one of these up today... definitely is an art in itself getting it trimmed right! my only gripe so far is that when the merlin is in "flying mode" (i.e., open and operational) the lower half of the arc seems to pop out of its groove at the caliper-hinge from time to time, even w/ the caliper-hinge lock in place, which makes the whole contraption jump, but once i get the thing trimmed and working smoothly i think i can probably bend the lock a bit to one side or the other to better prevent that. still, for $800, one would hope that that wouldn't be necessary....

and of course i now find myself wishing that all of my batteries were the same weight!
