menu or vcr mode unavailable.

When I turn my camera on, I'm able to record onto tape but when I want to go to vcr mode to go through the footage, the camera doesn't wstch modes. Also, when I press "menu" I get nothing. Does anyone know what this could be? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Perhaps there a button that I may have inadvertently pressed that locks access to the menu and the mode button?? Is there a button that locks these two features?
