For some reason, when I clicked on the link, the link had two "http"'s in it. Something to look into, perhaps?
That said, window's media runs god awful on macs, so I can't comment too far in depth on what I saw. I did like the concept. But I think it would have been funnier with the actual Mentos music. And was the Mentos lady blind? Or did she just have a cane?
Kevin - Ahhh Pike Place Market. My old condo building is visible in the first shot. Memories.
Techinically, the first few shots were highly overexposed. But, most importantly, the feel was all wrong. Mento commercials NEVER have spoken dialogue. And they definitely don't have curse words. They're suppose to be universal in their message and have a light/fun feel to them. If you're going to parody a commercial then you need to mimic it 100% and THEN put your own twist on it at the VERY end. Maybe even over exaggerate the good-hearted fun to where it's over the top. (The woman gets mugged because inside her purse are some Mentos. He throws away all her money and credit cards but keeps the mentos. Blah! Too cliche. Or the guy kills someone but everyone forgives him because he's got Mentos.) Maybe have it very light/fun and then, right before the graphic, have the two ladies kick the guy to death. I know it's a rough cut, but this one never felt like a Mentos commercial (until the last graphic). Watch some Mento commercials and study them.
I agree PK. We shot this in 2 hours flat. Exposure was bad, and lighting changed throughout the scenes. The reason we did not stick to the parody 100% is because this was just for fun to get some kinks worked out within our video/audio crew for the upcoming Filmerica Contest.
Also I would have stuck to the Mentos jingle, but we wanted our actors to be able to act a little and we will be putting an original soundtrack and sound fx in over the weekend. Also I'll be shortening this bit down to 30 seconds. All the audio you hear is ambient with a gain boost in a couple spots and I threw some techno at the end just for the heck of it. I'll repost the finished spoof with all the changes on Monday.
