Memory issues- What do I do?

Ok, after having resolved the quality issue, Ive found another issue to remedy.

Towards the end of recording the dvd it reads in the progress window "recording error" and underneath it it says the reason why "not enough memory"

So my question is how do I resolve this memory issue?

My computer has a 160 gb harddrive and 1024 mb of memory- That seems like enough to me-

What do you all say could help me resolve this memory issue?

Found this issue discussed on another forum. The guy called Adobe--they said XP Service Pack 2 causes the errors. He uninstalled SP2 and was able to burn his DVD. There is mention of Microsoft changing their DV codec and it is incompatible with Premier. Perhaps there is a way to disable that codec and install another? then you wouldn't have to uninstall SP2.

Wait, are you even running SP2?

A lot of times "Out of memory" doesn't really mean you're out of memory, either.

A lot of times, you're just out of handles. Which also means you're out of luck because there's not a damn thing you can do about it...although sometimes just minizing the application will help, and sometimes there are settings in the application like to just show "draft" mode while rendering.

A friendlier and more accurate error would be "out of resources" (which you'll see sometimes, too).

This will sound wierd, but rename your Premiere Pro exacutable from "Adobe Premiere Pro" to "Premiere Pro". SP2 has a flag in it to change internal settings when a program called "Adobe Premiere Pro" is started. There is no such flag present for "Premiere Pro".

I know this sounds wierd, but there are threads at Adobe's website explaining this in more detail. After this change, PPro 1.5 works flawlessley for me.

PS, this is for 1.5 users only, it will mess up 1.0.

Thanks for chiming in, Scott, that's a great workaround. Any luck, Kbar?
