And here they are, the new native M43 lenses from Olympus. Just announced along several still bodies. They do not have the O.I.S., nor a manual iris ring. Price is set to be $799 for the 12mm f/2.0, and $399 for the 45mm f/1.8. The former begins shipping now, and the latter in September. Preorders are online at major e-tailers. Many photography sites have photos, specs, and image samples. I find it interesting that Olympus followed the trend of shiny bling finish; it seems they will be redressing older M.Zuiko lenses too ala Sony NEX.

Finally a good fast wide angle lens for the reception at my events. Time to sell my Sigma 20mm 1.8 ef mount :). I just know it's going to look ridiculous on my af100. sigh

It does look kind of ridiculous even standalone. Probably won't auto-focus on the AF100 either. I am sure someone will find these useful though. More lens choices are good for the system.

its cool but not what i am waiting for ! would be great to get a new proper video lens like 14-140 but faster , from what i see some of the rumors were right, cant wait to see if rumored 12-50mm f/2.5-3.3 zoom - will ever see the light! or maybe something similar!?

It will definitely auto focus on the Af100. How well it will focus is the real question?

Both Olympus lens and the new Leica 25mm f1.4, are great additions to the M4/3 format, waiting for a fast zoom.

+1

I should have clarified that I expect this new lens to perform at least as good as the lumix 20mm or other Oly lenses. I was not implying that this lens would have actual useable continuous focus. Other than the Pana 14-140 (which is not really usable for even Cont Focus in my opinion) there is not anything that I'm aware of.

I would not be so sure... the Lumix 20mm f/1.7 does only push focus, and most Oly lenses are in this group too I hear.

In this artistic photo, they can be any color. I understood that the new lenses (12mm and 45mm) will have shiny metal finish only. Other plastic M.Zuiko kit zooms (14-42mm and 40-150mm) will come in 2 colors--silver and black--to better match the PEN bodies.

They were announced along with the new Olympus EP3, which is available in both silver or black finish. I'm assuming they didn't doctor this photo.

I just received the lens and on the AF100 it is grossly ugly!!! It does do constant auto focusing. It does it very well actually. I will post pics of it and a sample video.

seems like it needs pretty sharp edges to auto-focus quickly on .. which means it's probably still
relying on the camera to do edge detection?

Probably. It's just cool to know the feature is there if I want to use it. Will be shooting manual focus with the lens. Going to be weird adjusting to it's small size :/

Don't know about you guys, but I'm feeling the 12mm 2.0, Leica 25mm 1.4, and a Nikon 50mm 1.4 and you got all the fast prime lengths you need IMO for Probly under $2000. Good glass for good price.
