Media Sift

Hey all,
I downloaded the new version of Media Sift (1.1.2) and used the "sift drives" option. I think that's what it's called, I'm not at the office right now. It moved all of the media files into directories that reflected the project names, but Avid didn't re-index the omfi directory. When I opened the projects the media was listed as offline. Has anyone had success with this?

I would like to use Media Sift to move my files into directories and then burn to DVD to archive, but I don't feel comfortable doing so yet.

That's because Avid onlyy looks in the "OMFI" folder for the files...If they are not there your media will come up as :offline".

If you want to move them back, make sure you delete the .MDM database file and let Avid rebuild the database when it starts up.

I've deleted the file. So, if there are subfolders in the default OMFI Avid will read these folders and files if the index file is deleted and reassign them to their projects?

No. There can be no subfolders in the OMFI folder.

Just use Media Sift (great program by the way) to organize and backup at the end of projects. Then when you need to put that footage back online dump the files straight into the OMFI folder, delete the databases, and let Avid reindex.
