Media Offline. Well, some of it.

Hey, I'm trying to capture footage off miniDV into Avid, saving it to a WD External hard drive (160 GB). Some of the clips are there completely, but a majority of them have just the audio, with the video track offline. I have tried dumping the database, relinking the clips from the drive, and even recapturing, but still more than half my clips have offline video. Has anyone ever encountered this before?
In the middle of my capture, a window popped up that said

"MXF Stream Domain failed to write essence."

I clicked "continue", because the only other options were "quarantine" and "Abort"

If anyone has any suggestions at all about how to fix this, I would sincerely appreciate it. I'm pretty desperate right now, as this has set me a few days behind schedule.

Thanks in advance!!

Its probably your drive, the western digital, I had problems with them in the past, and they were even sluggish with FW800 connection. Just having a WD drive connected slows down my Avid.

Yea i just got a new drive, and it seems to be working fine. Also, I think I was capturing too large a clip, resulting in it losing whatever i had captured up until that point. Thanks!

you can delete your database files in that/those folders with those OMFI files in em.
They rebuild on their own. A step higher in trouble-shooting is, if you can, to rename your omfil folder(s) by placing an X at then of the name. Then relaunch, Avid and capture a wuick test clip. This creates a whole new OMFI folder from scratch so you know it is without errors.
You can then drag your media back in chunks, checking as you go. With OMFI folders with way too many files to sift through, this helps you find the currupt files, usually marked with a + in their filnename.
