Media Offline issue - Urgent, PLS Help

I have a project on an external HD, which moves between a PC and a Macbook Pro. I've been editing on the PC, but have opened the project on the Mac a number of times to capture etc. with no problems in the past. The project is backed on an internal HD on the PC. I recently bought a new, larger external HD and just yesterday copied all project and media folders there from the internal backup HD. At first I tried to copy between the two external HDs, using the Mac, but it was estimating 65hrs... So in the end i copied from the internal backup HD to the new external HD. It took upwards of 15 hours to copy everything, even though it was only about 360GB. I thought it was strange, but possibly because the new HD is FW 800, while the PC only has FW400. However, all files were copied successfully. Now, when I connected the original external HD to the Mac, the media was offline. The files in the bins were showing the wrong drive letter, but relinking, deleting database files, etc. did not work. The same is happening with the new HD. Also on the PC, when I unmount the internal HD, media is offline on both the external HDs. Avid does not seem to want to read the media on either of the external HDs. I need to be mobile with this project now and be able to edit on the Mac. I am on a deadline. Please, help!

ARE the drives FAT32 formatted?

Did you use consolidate command or did you move media at the OS level?

I have not yet found a solution! At this point I have given up trying to edit on the Mac and just need to get the media back online on the external HD to use on the PC. I did consolidate just the edited sequence and that worked - the sequence was online. However, I need to have all the raw footage and subclips that I've already cut online on the external HD in order to continue editing. I copied the entire Avid Media Files folder again, as well as the project folder from the internal to the external HD and rebuilt the database files. The media is still offline when I unmount the internal HD, i.e. Avid does not recognize/link the media files on the external HD. Relinking does not work. The media tool does not show any of the files on the external drive, even though the folder is there with exact same size and contents as on the internal HD. Should I try consolidating everything from every single bin? Please, help!
