Media Composer Academic

Does anyone know when Avid is going to release media composer to students? I wanted to purchase it, but only academic institutions are allowed to purchase a copy.

Since Xpress Pro is listed at the same price $295, I seriously doubt it will be released for students since there is such a dramatic price difference. Also, Students who own Xpress Pro Academic can upgrade for only $1000 (practically a steal) to the full retail version of Media Composer once the student has graduated.

Practically a steal? Only time in my life I've wished I was still a student.
