MBP as hi-quality capture and monitor solution?

Anyone tried using a macbook pro as a hi-quality capture and monitor solution? I dont mean firewire SQ (1440 HDV) with delayed inferior monitoring.

I mean one could do it with a AJA IO/HD right? and capture 10bit 422 Prores?

What would the monitoring be like on a 17inch MBP with 1920x1080 screen resolution?
Surely having an exceptional display such as a MBP 17inch hi-res display would be ideal for monitoring???

Anyone tried capturing with a Black Magic Decklink HD Extreme on a laptop using a magma express card adapter? This could give us portable 10bit 422 uncompressed from the Sony EX1... what does everyone think?

I think if it worked it would be beautiful.

I was wondering if you could capture 720p24 ProRes with a macbook pro and a mxo2 card. A lot cheaper and more portable.

Looks like Im getting a new Macbook Pro soon, and a BM decklink HD extreme for my chroma shoots using my existing Mac Pro.

Ill definitely order the magma express adapter and see if it works. If it does, looks like Ill have a portable 10bit uncompressed 422 HD!!! (and hopefully cool monitoring too)... but the magma will occupy the express slot so I dont know how to set up raid drives to sustain uncompressed... anyone?

Im also looking into that new Matrox mx02 card - might offer similar features.
