Maybe I don't understand?

I recently posted a thread about the P2 to hard drive. Everything is working fine. The only thing I dont understand is. the p2 card thats 16 GB can only partition the hard drive 15 times to use 240 GB. Right? Well the hard drives makes a "contents" folder & once I use up the 240 GB I want to reformat the drive to go back out in the field and use it again. Can I put the "contents" folders of the partition files on another hard drive to back up for easy access later on in Final Cut Pro?

I hope I explained this right, thanks,
Brandon

Yes, you can copy each of those partitions over to another hard disk and then reformat the offload drive.

There is one partition, and one CONTENTS folder, for every offload you've done. So if you did it 15 times, you'll have 15 partitions and 15 CONTENTS folders, and you have to copy them all off before reformatting that drive.

It is the camera that can only create 15 partitions on the hard drive, and those partitions will be the size of the P2 card you are using. As stated in the other thread, if you had a 32GB card, your camera would create 15 partitions of a 32GB size. Then you could use up to 480 GB on your drive.
