maybe fyi: sony releasing 50mm/f1.8 prime

The problem is that focusing ring on all e-mount lenses (with the exception of the 24mm zeiss maybe, but I didn't saw it) is unusable for video work. You can't repeat focus, you can't put marks. And precise manual focussing is mandatory in video, espescially on fast prime lenses.

Sorry.. but WHY ?? ... I use gear ring of my Follow Focus even on Kit-lens 18-200... and on this lens focusing ring even vider ... Follow Focus for manual focusing is the best way to focusing perfectly, don't you think so? ...

( ... this, and a few other e-mount lenses on B&H site stay about 1.5 month :) )

I use follow focus units quite extensivelly in my work. Of course it's the best way to focus. But e mount lenses have a servo driven focus system and the way it works is depending of the speed you turn the ring, the amount of degrees you turn it will not move the focus plane the same way every time. So you can put marks on your follow focus, you will never be able to accurately acheive focus even if you are on your marks.
