How's it going guys. We are currently in pre-production for a crazy little project. Max Payne. It will be a Graphic novel mixed with live action. It will definately have the Max Payne feel to it.

Times are a bit hectic right now for I am working on Cameron Romeros (Georges sons) new slasher film being shot in Pittsburgh, Pa. called "The Screening" and production lasts for another 20 some days.

After Christmas the Payne project will take off full throttle. We are in Pre-Production stages as we speak. For the time being you can check for updates on our Project Payne website.

Here is a taste of what we are working with.

Thanks

Yours obviously is a fan film. I wouldn't dare try to sell it. Hope you have fun with it anyway. But don't expect too much praise unless it's done very well.

thank you for the comments. but there is no IF about it being done well. It will be done well and it will be clever. Time will tell. Keep checking for updates...

Hey - I was genuinely interested - my reply wasn't a comment - it was a Q ??

Also - are you shooting this on the dvx ?
Looks like you should have a good foundation , what with working on a Romero poject even If it his only his sons - Im sure its pretty cool - any website for the upcoming slasher ?

This is'nt the one being distro'd by 20th Century Fox, is it?

Is this a fan film? Why is this inthe LATEST DVX NEWS? Are you shooting it on DVX?

so basically you're stealing the max payne look and feel and making your own movie?

and 20th century fox is going to butcher the hell out of that movie....they need a good indy to do it who's familiar with the gameplay. not some studio exec who just saw another action picture on his desk.

ok, some questions arose so I will clear them up.

-Yes I will be shooting on the DVX100B
-Yes this is a fan film. And the people working on this are payne o holics so it will
have the feel and look that it should have. And no, this isn't the one being distro'd.
-This isnt a rip off of the idea, this is using the characters and every other element in the Payne Games.
The Romero film is fun as hell, It is definately under way, we have about two more weeks of shooting. I think you can look it up under IMDB but nothing is listed under there as of yet. after production they should update it. The crew is fun but I am putting in long nights. 20 hour days. 8 hours for my day job and 12 for the movie "The Screening". But it is definately worth the hard work.
-We wont butcher it. trust me.

any more questions just ask. And keep checking the site for updates. most likely production wont start until after christmas. That way I will be off the Romero film and will have time to work on this Payne Project.

that's exactly what a rip off is, lol.

i'm being very sarcastic but honest at the same time.

I don't know. I consider a rip off taking an idea that is out there and playing it off as your own. ripping it off. stealing. etc.

This is more like a tribute. Not passing it off as our own. Hence it being a fan film.

rip off Slang
  1. To exploit, swindle, cheat, or defraud: a false advertising campaign that ripped off consumers.
I don't believe we are doing this in any way, shape or form.

hey man, do what you want. i'm glad you are doing something you enjoy (as long as it isn't killing people or such things).

maybe i just like trying to be as original as possible. although, it's mostly impossible nowadays to do so.

i'm a fan of max payne too, so i hope you do it as well as you say you will. it'll make me happy.

oh, i almost forgot.......if you are going to be doing 'bullet-time' shots, i suggest using the HVX. it may be the only camera that can capture the essence of the slow-mo.........HEHE!

Good luck Raw and Vital

If I can add one more unsolicited penny:

Why a fan film? Why not do what you are going to do but make up your own characters? Inspiration and homage is one thing but when the day is over you can;t do anything with it. But.......................

If it's as good as you say it will be; then it won't matter what the names are, where it takes palce and what its about.

Anyway; good luck with it. Cant wait to see it

John's right. If you end up with some incredible work you won't be able to run with it. Make it Payne "like". Suck if you were stuck with a great little flick you had no legal right to.

Last year I saw a Star Wars fan flick and the bloody thing was amazing. They spent 6 months just on post FX. The whole time I was watching it I kept thinking "why work so hard on something and make it look so good if it's owned by some other jackass"

I agree. Looks like you guys know what you're doing, so why not build it from the ground up? Establish yourselves.

Thanks for the comments/feedback. Anyways, I like to be as original as possible. And believe me, I still think original material is out there. I have other projects I am working on. Well, I guess you can say scripts. I'll never have the budget to shoot them, but i am going to try and fly with that stuff. This Payne project is just out of fun, no matter if it's utterly amazing, We can care less to make anything from it. Who knows, Maybe the Official Payne site will host it.

i have been thinking about this also. i think you should make your own. take some aspects from the payne games- like the narration and comic and the dark look, and make your own.

Okay first..what the F**K is that Zach? Get your own damn graphic you wanna be pimp. Jacking somebodys avatar is just not cool you lamer. You may have joined earlier but this was mine. THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE DOMU-KUN!!!!!!!!

Okay that being said...love the game.. Raw and Vital I hope your movie works out great. What did you do to alter the photos into painting..what program was used? It looks awesome. Thanks.
