Very well done. The skydive scene reminded me of my old days when I started jumping in 1963. I would mount a 8mm film camera to a football helmet and when we could put together enough money to afford 16mm we would borrow the pilots 16 mm camera and film with it. All the god footage was lost when the fellow I loaned it to got wasted in Nam. I never could locate it.

thanks guys. mike, we shot 24pn to P2 with the scene file dial on F6 and the shutter angle at 180 degrees. Other than that i didn't change anything.

Wow. That was great. Are those professional actors, or just guys who got a day off, because they did fantastic.

Also, was that Bob Barnes at the end? I've used him before...

This commercial is AWESOME. You did it for $7500???? Hard to believe, I would have thought much more...You say you shot it in about 3 days..Again, I would have thought much longer..How much planning time including your shot list, did this take?? Excellent.!!!!

thanks so much guys.

As far as planning, it was about six weeks between brainstorm and finished product but we were working on a lot of other projects during that time too. most of the work went into coordinating the shoot and coming to an agreement on the script. some of the earlier versions of the script had some really funny stuff. before motocross jumping, it was going to be Alligator Wrestling. Max snaps the alligator's neck and then: "nice one, sir" - "aw, it was only an eight-footer." But that didn't go well with their dialogue about the "Green Energy Push". And originally Max showed up in a helicopter a la Putney Swope. When we found out we couldn't afford a helicopter we gladly replaced it with a Segway and a '37 Jaguar.

there was pretty much no lighting except the end. for the paintball shot we used 2 Home Depot 1000w lights and a small desk lamp is hidden behind the pile of monitors. wes anderson was definitely an influence. particularly the shot of the plane buzzing by the jaguar.

I'm really glad people are enjoying this because its our favorite thing we've made and we had so much fun making it!

I'ts paced so well.. with something moving and developing.. and very well acted. Thanks for showing this and hopefully you'll get more gigs from the client.. and be able to raise ya prices too! I also like that you are in Burlington. I spent many a day up there when I was going to Keene State, and when I was a Hippy type college student. Even got to see Nectars where Phish used to play and eat french fries with gravy... Hmmm. Glad that there's some good production going on up there. I was just up in NH over xmas shooting snow storms and my kids playing in the snow. Fun times and thanks for showing this!!!!

cheers

Yeah, they're professional actors. Max Baxter was played by Wayne Tetrick. We've done 5 or 6 spots with him and we consider him the "Biggest Gun In Our Arsenal." We're working on a spot right now for a Flooring store in which Wayne plays a Four-Star General who convinces the president to push The Button.

Bernie was played by Mark Nash who is the artistic director of the Vermont Stage Company and was my brother's acting teacher at University of Vermont. He recently directed a play called Inspecting Carol starring Wayne and with my brother in a small part. Right now he's playing the lead in Doubt which opens at the end of January.

and yeah, that's Bob Barnes! that's so funny. we found him on Voices.com. He once acted with Jack Warden (one of our favorites)!

Excellent. No need to say anymore. I've had my HVX for a few weeks now but have been unable to achieve that look you've got in that commercial.

I also really like scene 6. My best footage so far was using scene 6 outside on a lovely sunny day filming my wife putting the bins out - aahhh, I'm such a gentleman!! I achieved a similar look due to the excellent natural light, but not that convincing film look you've achieved.

You should be very proud that is an extremely great accomplishment with a standard HVX, I'll be watching your future threads for tips - thanks for sharing.

Regards and Happy New Year

Fires with gravy...

Fires with gravy...

You righteous bastard!!!.. That's awesome bro. I loved that little place and I forgot the name of the bagel store, but it's like the best bagels in the world. Are you also a phish fan?

I wish you could ship down some fries and gravy.. or some of those bagels... cheers

I forgot to ask, what effects/plugins did you use and in what NLE? I'd appreciate you sharing as it may be my missing ingredients.

Thanks in advance.
