Where can I find out more information and pricing?
We will be updating our website in a few weeks with all the details. I will post when the the update is ready. The price will be slightly higher than our current Matteblox.

I have the F-500 for my DVX and it's great. I just use a screw on 72mm UV filter to extend the adapter ring and mattbox out past the microphone. Works great. I really hope that it works with my HVX. I think a mattebox is important for many reasons including the way that my setup is perceived by others, but I can't see spending a couple grand on one.

Check out the Format box.

You can't use a regular adapter ring w/ the Formatt, it needs to have a special "wedge" edge for the clip to grab on to. check w/ Rush at EVS.

BTW, I heart my FM-500, and can't wait to to have a nice HVX to accessorize it with....

LOL.

Seriously though, we all know the primary function of a mattebox is to impress the client. And I don't know about you guys, but my clients are not impressed by spray-painted cardboard and duct tape. I'm liking the prototype pictures for the Cinetactics mattebox and their ballistic nylon approach. Looks like it could be made available for a reasonable price too.

Pretty much my other reason for getting a Matte box too. I did also see that the indy focus people are selling a set of rods for really cheap.

I like the price of the Format... Having to pay half the price for a Matte Box as a cam is like those friggin jewelry companies that say that your wife's ring should be equal to 3 months salary.

Well I did get my wife a ring back when I was just out of college and based that purchase on 3 month's salary from when I had a paper route when I was 12 years old. They didn't say when it should be 3 months salary. LOL.

Just got the rods and they are a nice item. The matte-box is a little flimsy for my tastes though. Mostly plastic and the filter frames actually bent as I tried to take them in and out. Certainly WAY better than a cardboard home job but no where near as nice as a Chroisel or even my old Van-Dieman. If all you are looking for is an inexpensive box to hang in front of your lens then I'd say the Cavision is fine. I just wouldn't expect it to hold up to heavy use for all that long.

The rod system however is great.

see my post in this thread about how to get it to work well with the hvx

All the best,

The 4x4 & 4x5 Petroff boxes are great. They make the lightest pro mattebox on the market. In case you loose a tray or other part, replacements are fairly inexpensive (less than half a Chrosziel). You can also add or take away as many stages as you like 1-4 stages. Every box is either rod or clip on style.
