Matte Painting and Miniature Models

Has anyone ever done a DV using matte paintings and models?I am looking to experiment with models and matte painting on DV and would like to hear of people's experiences with it. I am mostly focusing on miniature models and matte paintings of buildings in the background.

Yes, is there a place online I can go to find those who can do matte paintings? Where can I find model makers? Was thinking about going to a college or University and posting a sign in the art or theatre department. What would you or anyone suggest? I have a script for a short film I plan on shooting around end of summer or fall but would like to experiment first.

Yeah, I know theres plenty of good artists here. CGT is just a more specific forum.
If thats serious tho then they suck.
