Matte box=$$$$$

Re: Matte box=$$$$$

Yes.. but it depends. put the wide angle on your lens and see how much of the front element's edge is actually being recorded. that will tell you. With rods, it is not necessary for the mattebox to actually attatch to the front of the camera, thats what rods are for, to elieve the stress on the front of the lens.

My Red eye is 72mm... in and out, so there is no problems for me..

Re: Matte box=$$$$$

This is the second thread I've read here tonight regarding the high cost of matte boxes available for the DVX100.
Using the Cavision current pricelist, I calculated their 4x4 matte (that's the bellows type) with support rods and French flag, but without the handlegrips was about $475 - a price that doesn't strike me as outrageous. Am I wrong? Did I miscalculate?

Re: Matte box=$$$$$

I agree, I think they're great prices...

I might be joining this late, but just for clarifications...

Jarred
I want to get the 3X3 from Cavision w/ rods...
that would work with a .7 wide angle, and since the rods relieve stress, it would not vignette. Right? I like this set up.

Since you have said you like both the MatteBlox and this one, I'm stuck betwen the two...

Pro

I ordered my 3 by 3 and did not get rods. If you get the Pistol Grip get rods - If you do not then you dont need the rods.

Re: Matte box=$$$$$

I was just worried about vignetting...

you said you ordered the 3X3 do you like it? Like Jarred said...It looks awesome, but I know I can't buy it just for that reason! :) heh

Hey John you know I have a GlidecamPro 2000 too? I'm secretly copying your set up!! Just kidding

P.S. Look out your window...

Re: Matte box=$$$$$
