Hey just woke up to a barage of "why did you post that" . . . sorry Matt's and fans, just was repeating a link I found on another thread. Thought maybe the man himself had put it up as a link, like it's online, but its not kind of thing . . . or he would have taken it off. I have a problem with band width when I posted a small thing here so I can understand just a little of the way, so I just had to take my stuff off line

He is. But we live in the glorious age of the Internet, so we conducted the transaction electronically. Heck, I did a commercial for a Maryland-based nonprofit once... amazing times we live in.
I had him clean up the title/poster cards on my demo reel. I have some killer commercials, but the in-between stuff was LAME. So I asked Matt to work some of his graphic-arts magic and give me some choice title cards, and he did a great job. Previewed by .wmv, and then downloaded the finals as DV .avi's. I e-mailed him the graphics, so the whole thing was done internet-ly.
I found him to be very friendly and a hard worker who stayed up late to make sure that I got the files I needed the way I needed them the day before I was to make a presentation with the new, improved reel. His rates were reasonable, and I'm sure they're going up, but I'd hire him again.
If I remember correctly he worked at McDonalds to save enough money for his first camera. Then he used that to win film contests to make enough money to buy the DVX. I don't think he's been to film school, although he started doing this at like age 8.
yeah.. he also has won a few scholarships cause of his work. Its pretty safe to say hes gonna have a remarkable career in this industry, and will probally be moving to 35mm shortly.
At least in 10 years when hes flying around doing Britney Spears videos we can all say we saw his begining.
Well, I worked with him on this video shooting b-reel. I don't think any of my footage made the final cut, and I shot very little, and spent most of the time setting up lights and basically just being exhausted from a total lack of sleep. I must say he's not some stuck up rich kid by any means, but instead is incredibly dedicated and talented.
That said, things come easily to him. He's financed most of his stuff by winning lots of money in contests and he had a small crew (including me) who worked for him for free. Then again, when you create such great videos, I think you deserve everything you get, but having extra money and helpers doesn't hurt.
Btw, he told me that he dropped out of high school and got a GED because of his dedication to video and film. And his latest video he made almost no money on, despite the fact that shooting and editing it was a huge amount of work (I can only imagine what the post work amounted to.)
Question though. On the Making video of Uninvited it says shot and directed by Zachary Nolan (was this just the making video or the whole Uninvited video)? Either way good work, but just curious.
Wow! a GED, I think thats awesome.
I know that view point is unpopular, we as adults are supposed to tell kids to stay in school, etc. However, school is not for everyone. With the state that public schools are in, if I had a talented kid who was smart enough to learn what he needed to on his own, I would say let him drop out of a crumbling education system that only serves to corrupt children and not educate them.
His talent and natural smarts will take him very far in this world.

In ten years, Britney Spears is going to be rancid . . .
