Up for sale is a Matrox RT.X2 PCI-E card with breakout box and cables/adapters, plus a training video, driver and documentation disc (not pictured):

I bought this for use with Premiere Pro 2.0, and have the original driver disc for that version of the software. However, I had since upgraded to CS3, and installed the drivers for that version. When the drivers are installed, the firmware on the hardware is also upgraded, so I'm not sure if this can be downgraded to work with PPro 2.0. To be safe, I'd say that you need to have Premiere Pro CS3 (v3.1.1) in order to use this--CS3 is NOT included with the sale, so you'll have to supply your own copy. Also note that this the HD version of the hardware--Matrox also makes an SD-only version.

Hardware was purchased in April '07. Full details and specs are available at Matrox's website.

Anticipating the question: the reason I'm selling is that the RT.X2 seems to be primarily well-suited to HDV editing, and since I don't shoot HDV, I'm really not using it to its potential.

Price is $1000, shipped. PayPal preferred. Any questions or interest, please PM or email at colin-at-broughammedia-dot-com.

Thanks for looking!

What is that card connector type? PCI Express?

I'm actually pulling my RT.X100 this weekend to sell so I can upgrade to this card, but my motherboard doesn't have PCI-E. Maybe it's time for an upgrade there, too.

Ooof...looks like my single P4 3.2GHz HT processor won't even run this card. Guess I have a major system upgrade to look forward to before getting into the HD world.

Thanks for the info.

Bump.

Also, will consider straight-up trades, or trades and cash exchange. I'm not looking for a great many things, unfortunately--but I'm definitely in the market for an HVX.

I'm all ears... or eyes, I guess.

Would the ownership/registration also transferr, to be eligible for software updates and hardware upgrades from matrox?

I have the rtx.100 and when the rt.x2 was released current owners had the option to trade up the 100 card.

also how many hours of use would you estimate on the rt.x2 card?

Yes, registration can be transferred--I'd be happy to take care of that part. I believe that driver updates are free for the registered owner for as long as you own the card. I'm not sure about hardware upgrades--not sure what Matrox has planned for the future. Since the card is firmware-upgradeable, it should be able to support new formats as time passes. For instance, when CS3 came out, Matrox provided Panasonic 720p MXF support before it was native to CS3. I guess there's talk of the 3.5 drivers offering XDCAM EX support--I wouldn't bank on it, but it's likely to happen at some point.

As far as usage hours, I really don't know how to gauge that. It not really the same as measuring usage hours on a deck or camcorder. I primarily used the component output for monitoring, and occasionally the analog inputs. The card and break-out box are in perfect physical shape, and everything works with both.

I'll do a little looking into the registration transfer. PM me if you're interested--the card is boxed and ready to go!
