Matrox MXO and MacbookPro

Hi,

I am using a laptop for editing footage. The footage sits on a 1 TB Caldigit S2VR Duo hooked up with the ExpressCard slot. This is my question. Can I use the MXO to preview the timeline on my 23 Cinema Display? I am also using this monitor to edit on, the laptop display is too small, so I basically use the MacbokPro in "closed top" mode.

The MXO (I have one) eats up the entire 23" ACD for its display. It will show *only* the output image, as a broadcast monitor emulation, and not the timeline. It maps pixel-for-pixel to 1080x1920 which leaves small black bands at the top and bottom, and 720x1280 whicch leaves a black border all around. To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to view anything but the "canvas" (at least in FCP) on the 23" when the MXO is active. It can be bypassed, which returns the 23" to normal desktop extension mode, but none of the MXOs features are then in play.

It's intended as a second-monitor only solution, with the first monitor being your editing workspace. So you *could* use it with your MBP as long as you do your editing on the MBP screen itself.

Thanks all,

I did a bit of research and using F12 I can toggle between preview and fcp, that will work for me for the time being.
