Matrox has release 1.5 software for the Matrox AxioTM family of HD and SD editing platforms will provide realtime native DVCPRO HD editing support.

Matrox Axio will let users capture DVCPRO HD material over 1394, edit the material in its native format, mix it in realtime with other HD formats, then print to tape over 1394.

Matrox Axio makes Adobe Premiere Pro the foremost realtime HD and SD editor for demanding broadcast and post-production environments. It features no-render HD and SD finishing in compressed and uncompressed formats, superior color correction tools, advanced realtime effects, and a full range of analog and digital audio and video inputs and outputs. It incorporates Matrox Flex 3D and Power of X technologies to leverage scalable CPU power with the explosive performance of dedicated 3D graphics hardware to provide the ultimate SD and HD editing experience.

"I appreciate Matrox's support of DVCPRO HD compression and IEEE1394 connectivity with our products," said Mr.Tadao Shimozuru, Director of Professional AV Business Unit of Panasonic AVC Networks Company. "I expect to see further integration with the HD P2 format in the near future. "

"Native support for the DVCPRO HD format on Matrox Axio will allow our customers to take advantage of the revolutionary Panasonic AG-HVX200 camcorder as well as the AJ-HD1200A HD feeder VTR through the IEEE1394 connection," said Alain Legault, Matrox vice president of product development. "They'll benefit from production-proven DVCPRO HD image quality and the workflow flexibility to mix DVCPRO HD material with other HD footage on the timeline in real time, all at an extremely affordable price point."

God bless ingenuity...

How can you make a video editing system around Adobe Premiere??

Apparently you can build a video editing system around Adobe Premiere, but you can build an even better video editing system around Adobe Premiere Pro!

thats good news. really its no real supirse as they had plans to support it since the axio came out, but the Axio HD system is apx 12,000.00 so while it may be nice.. the price reflects all that niceness. The Axio SD is over 7,000.00. Id love to switch to that from my Rtx 100 extreme pro, but theres over 10,000.00 difference in cost. not something i can afford to write off right now. so while it its good news.. its just a daydream for now.

I currently have a Canopus DVRex RT/Pro, for SD it rocks but recently I've been trying to migrate to HD (via HDV). Canopus and Adobe don't seem to play well together anymore so I've been looking for something else. When I read the press release I got all kinds of excited - for $1200  I'd be really excited for $12K, well that just sucks!

Does anyone know of anything else in the $2K price range that works with PPro?

Anyone want to buy a Canopus DVRex RT/Pro?

you can buy cineform's "prospect HD" for 2500. with no ingest equipment.

Part of the Cineform AspectHD is bundled with PPro 1.5.1 and works pretty darn well. I'm curious to find out what improvement I would get if I upgraded to the full version of AspectHD.

Ingest is fine but I don't have anyway to view the footage on an external monitor. It looks great on my cinema display (24" Dell) but that's still progressive. Also the footage looks terrible when I try to encode it to share online. So I need to do considerably more testing. :engel017:
