Matrix vs white balance

It's Monday, gray and rainy in the northwest (a very black and white day) and my brain doesn't seem to be working right, so...

I having a problem with the concept of white balance and matrix--especially the Fluo setting.

In a studio setup, shooting with all fluorescent lighting (CRI=98) [green screen actually] if you manually set the white balance correctly under the lights for the talent what is the the purpose the the matrix Fluo setting?

Didn't the manual white balance adjustment already compensate for the color spikes in the lighting by adjusting the ratios between the primary colors? What would be the point in suppressing the green zone of the spectrum again?

By the deafing silence on this question, I guess I have my answer.

For future search purposes I summarize the conclusion...

When shooting under fluorescent lighting, if you set manual white balance against a true white target there is *no* purpose in using the FLUO matrix setting (unless you just want greens suppressed).

I'll also assume that generally the FLUO setting is only supposed to be used against a fixed standard white balance setting (e.g. A/B/PRST).
