Matching the NEX-EA50 to the FS700

Has anyone seen anything to create a picture profile to best match the EA50's look to the FS700?

I've just picked up an EA50 to use as a b-cam with my FS700 and it's great but it's not quite a match for my 700. I'm sure I'm not the first to think about this, and I'm wondering if I can save myself the time of setting up both cameras and doing A-B comparisons with some charts.

Hi Michael

If you look at PP's in both the FS100 and EA-50 they seem to have identical parameters but I'm not too sure about the 700 .... However knowing Sony, I would suspect that they might be pretty much the same...A visit to the blog at AbleCine is
definately worth it..nice profiles there for the FS100 so they probably have some info on the 700 too.

Chris,

Great suggestion! I compared the parameters against each other but hadn't thought about the FS100.

The parameters for the FS100 match the EA-50's menus perfectly. So referring to AbelCine's scene files there are a few that are available for both the FS100 and FS700. I'll have to set up a shot to confirm the results, but I was able to setup a couple of picture profiles that at least according to AbelCine should match. Their FS700 profiles look great, it will just come down to how well they match.

Thanks!

Finally, the question is, Do you want to match them? Certainly you would for something like matching over the shoulder shots, but for closeups of a hand, etc., it might be okay to let them differ a bit. The cinegammas of the FS700 are so great: do you really want to sacrifice them (go to the lowsest common denominator)? Just another thought.
