Matching the AF100 to the GH3

Hello chaps,
My London Feature film - AF100 shoot.

I'm just wondering. The only reason why I want to shoot internally to my AF100 is because my blackbird steadicam just won't accommodate the Samurai. I would like to shoot with the Samurai, rent it possibly for my shoot, so I can have a lot of latitude in post.

But I'm thinking, if the GH3 is supposedly 50Mps and 70Mbs (correct me if I'm wrong) I could just delegate a GH3 as the default steadicam and and stealth cam. Then all my other shots, Dolly, Tripod, etc could easily be shot to a Samurai. I have a hacked gh2, but worry about the reliability of the recording media. I've had a 95mbs card give me trouble before.

So has anyone matched a gh3 to the AF100 yet?
Thanks.

I have done a quick test and think they look similar with slight grade. Used cine d normal2 on af100. Use the IPB mode on gh3 for best quality codec

Hi Robbin,

Long-time lurker, first-time poster here...

I am trying to make decisions for a two-camera purchase to be used primarily for profiles (interviews with b-roll, including beauty shots as well as action), and I've wondered if I could successfully cut between the footage of an AF100(A) and a GH2 (hacked) or GH3. I've done the "stylized B camera" look before, but this series will be less hyped and more naturalistic, so a match between cameras A and B is important.

Any chance you could post a link to your test?

I did re-read with interest Barry Green's tests using one of LPowell's hacks (Flowmotion v2?):

But, if you'd care to share, I'd like to see your results, too.

Cheers,

If its important...get 2 x AF100 bodies.

What you invest in a guaranteed match..will be saved in post production costs and time (...and grief)
