matching hvx200 to dvx100

Hi,
I need to match and hvx200 to a DVX100B. Mult-cam-ing and interview with two cams using P&S mini35 adapters with 100mm zeiss lenses. Unfortunately, there is not another DVX100 adapter so I must rent a second camera, the HVX200. I figures the looks must be somewhat close shooting in miniDV and SD.
I've read to stay off the cine gammas with the mini35. But does anyone have any experience and advice how to match the looks of these cameras to match them for crosscutting?
Thanks you for your help.

if your recording sd with the hvx the dvx should be pretty close. just make sure your shooting same frame rate, white balance to the best of your ability, i would use a monitor to get a real good look at both of the cameras. 2 of em so u can compare em together to get the closest u can.. im sure you can get it pretty dead on tho.

They will look pretty close if you take a little time to A/B them on a monitor (hook both up to a monitor with two inputs, then toggle the inputs so you can see the image differences and compensate through the menus).

As a rough guide, if you set both of 'em to exactly the same settings, did a manual white balance on each, and then adjusted the master pedestal of the DVX to be darker than the HVX, they should get in the ballpark. I used -4 on the HVX and -8 on the DVX and I seem to recall that that's about all I had to do to get them to match.

If you're using lens adapters you have to be aware that the individual lenses will add their own color and contrast tweaks to the image, so it may not be possible to get them to match perfectly unless you go through the monitor a/b switching. If you don't have a monitor that can do that, get DV Rack/OnLocation, record a little clip with one camera, then split-screen the live feed from the other camera over the recorded clip from the first camera and match 'em up from there. You can make them match extremely well if you take the effort to do it right.
