I want to shoot some footage with my HPX170 and someone who will be using an HDV camera. What recording settings would I choose on my HPX to best match the size of HDV camera footage?
I assume you're talking about the recording format? Set it to the same that they're using. If it's 1080/24, or 1080/30, or 1080/60, or 720/24 or 720/30 or 720/60, the HPX170 can do them all, so set it to the same that the HDV cam is using.
