Matching Hacked GH1 and GF1

I'm shooting my first wedding this weekend with my newly hacked GH1 and GF1. I just got the GF1 last night so I haven't had a chance to mess with it yet. I'm just a little confused on which settings to choose to best match the two cameras. I've mainly been shooting 1080p with my GH1 but the GF1 can't do true 1080p. Do you think it'll make that big of a difference or should I do both cameras at 720p?

If you shoot in 1080 then you have the option of upresing the GF1's 720 to 1080 as well as the option of downresing GH1's 1080 to 720. That being said I am sure that there are others who will chime about other aspects to consider...

You should probably pay more attention to the various in-camera image adjustment settings, to give yourself less CC work afterwards.

I can jump in here and say I recently did the very same using a hacked GF1 as a back up to my hacked GH1 for a wedding shoot.

I made a bit of a error.
I had a terrible time trying to match the quality of the GH1s 1080p and the GF1s 720p avchd (even with both cams at same image settings, same lenses, colour was different...gf1 gave off this slight yellow look for some reason so still had to cc) so be warned.

If you are planning on finally authoring on dvd...I would recommend using 720p for both cams and you may get a closer match.

Additionally the detail of image used with 1080p GH1 footage is way beyond picking up detail than the 720p on the GF1 (Im presuming this is due to sensor differences as well as resolution) you can spot the GF footage a mile off upscaled or otherwise.

Thankfully the couple were happy with the video but Im now contemplating selling my GF and getting another GH as backup...but i do love my lil GF1

So my recommendation is stick with 720p for both cams...will be less of a headache ;-)Good luck

I would say don't try to match them. In fact don't use the same lens on both cameras. Their video formats are different and trying to get them to match up is next to impossible. Just buy some cheap manual focus glass for the GF1. Use the manual video controls that the hack enables and shoot some really shallow depth of field shots with it. Then use the m4/3s glass on the GH1 where you can get the super high quality detailed shots.

It is always nice to have different perspectives and different angles in the shots. If every shot looks the same then the video will become boring quickly.
