FS7: Matching FS7 to 5D3

Any of you guys own both cameras or tried shooting with them on a job? I'm doing a 3 cam setup and I (almost) feel stupid spending money on renting a 3rd 5D3 when we have the FS7 in house....
But I also don't want to the stuck in a situation where I can't match up the FS7 up to the 5D3 cameras.

I imagine shooting in rec on the FS7 would get me some of the way?

I actually just finished a shoot with FS5 and 5D - FS5 was Slog2 with REC709 matrix and 5D cinestyle. They both graded very well together.

Be intelligent about what you use the 5D for. Don't put it in any high contrast shooting scenarios where you are going to blow out skies etc. Will be much easier to match that way

In my experience, shooting a 5D3 is like shooting through a shopping carrier bag, due to over-enthusiastic implementation of an OLPF.

You may well find a colour/gamma palette that matches them enough to fool the eye, but I would expect the overall image quality/resolution/presentation to be tangibly different.

I can guess you could always dumb down your FS7 image with some gaussian blur/softening, crush the blacks and add a mysterious yellowness to skin tones.

TEST TEST TEST.

I did one shoot - just interviews - that I had no time in advance to test - and I shot in custom using HG7 & tweaked some of the Matrix settings (boosting Sat) on the FS7. (not sure if the 5DIII was in neutral or other setting) I had to pull down blacks & fiddle quite a bit in the edit with colors, but did get them to match pretty closely. I think if you test in advance, you could get pretty close in cameras (so long as you're shooting not more than 7 stops of dyn range).
