Hi,
My business partner and I just got a DVX100b and a Canon HV20 HDV in our hands just under the wire in time for 2 weddings we are shooting over the next two weeks. We haven't had enough time to really test out everything enough comparing framerates, etc. We have done a lot shooting tests and have a good understand of all the controls etc.
The Canon HV20 in HDV mode has a 24p mode but it's a nightmare to do the pulldown, and the final results seem a bit blurry with motion (I resize to 720X480 with virtualdub to MainConcept DV codec after capture).
It is fairly important to us to get the filmic look as much as possible but at the same time we don't want to flub the whole thing by shooting with imcompatible framerates.
What would you recommend what framerate we should shoot at on all cameras, 24p on both the Canon HV20 and the DVX? or just shoot 29.96 or 60i on both?
Should we shoot the DVX in 24pA mode? If so will this cause an issue when trying to editing ont the same 24p timeline in Adobe Premiere CS3?
We also have a third reg Panasonic mini dv cam that we will use to shoot the crowd off on it's own (no framerate options, it must be 29.97). I was thinking to convert that footage to 24p via Magic Bullet then edit the footage on the 24p timeline.
Some clear recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
DJ Elvis
