Match HVX to DVX

I have to shoot a 2 camera interview using a HVX for the 2 shot and a DVX for the individual shots. The HVX is going to be recording in DV on tape. Any recomendations on settings to get them to look the same, or as close as possible?

Thanks

keep the scene lit well. the dvx does better on low light. Use 4x3 since the dvx doesn't do 16x9 well. Make sure both are set to the same format. That being said in my experience the dvx and hvx don't dual cam very well together. I could not get them to match very well. I do offer rentals of HVX for 300/week or a dvx for 200/week. From my experience you want to try and stick with 2 of the same cam to make multicam look best.

I would love to have 2 of the same but the client doesn't not have that in the budget. They are willing to accept that they will look somewhat different but I was trying to see how I could best minimize the difference.

Thanks for your suggestions, it's good advice.

well if that the case you gotta work with what you have. I'd play witht he iris a bit to try and get them to match and leave it on manual. Don't use gain. Judge by the viewfinder not the pull out screen. Like JT said, white bal. If possible create enough of a different angle that the backdrops are not the same. If you can be looking at something totally different the viewer has no reference on whats wrong. I'd also recommend not going nuts with the scene files and keeping them pretty moderate.

I do two cam shoots with them all the time and they match up pretty well. Even in 16:9
Two things - I keep the settings identical except the master pedestal is 3 notches lower in the DX and since you'll get better resolution on the HVX 16:9 chips ALWAYS use the DVX as the close cam and the HVX as the wide cam. You can really notice a difference doing it the other way round.
Good luck.

That is great advice. I use these two cams as well and never thought of it that way, Thanks!

Used the DVX for the chest up shots of the individuals and the HVX of the wide 2 shot. Tried it with the master pedestal lowered 3 steps and with it not lowered at all, lowering it make a huge difference, much closer to the look of the HVZX The footage is close enough that unless you knew it was from 2 diferent kinds of cameras you would never realize it. The HVX footage will be minimal in the final product also so that will help.

Thanks to everybody for the suggestions, I think I was able to pull it off!
