FS5 match FX9 and FS5?

I have a possible job coming up just shooting a conversation between 2 people with 2 cameras shooting iso's of each person but the available cameras are only an FX9 and FS5 . Will these cut OK if we shoot UHD Slog 3 on both ? Might have an A7siii as a third camera doing a 2 shot . Of course I guess we could also use the FS5 for the 2 shot - as I know the A7 and FX9 can match. Any experience with that combo?

Well the equipment available to the producers is an FS5 and an FX9 . So that was the original idea. Then we thought about trying to sell them on a 2 shot camera and an A7siii is available . I don't know that they'll pay for it . It dawned on me though that if we bring the A7 on then it would probably be better to use the FS5 as the 2 shot. The question remains though- Has anyone tried to match the FS5 and the FX9?

I haven't tried to match them but I went from an FS5 to an a7Siii and an FX6. The image of the later generation cameras is markedly superior so I would guess you could only match the FX9 image to that from the FS5 by hitting it firmly with the ugly stick.

I don’t think the 5 and 6 are going to cut well together. The 5 was always kind of an “ugly duckling” cam, even when it was new and trying to match it with the then current line. I agree that you will probably have better luck matching the a7s3 to the 6.

I've had no problem matching an Fs5 and FX6 when shooting slog3. Do a WB in post off a color chart or white card, use a LUT or CST to bring the footage into your delivery color space/gamma, and then grade to taste. As long as things are properly exposed (e.g., expose the Fs5 about +1 to 1.5 stops above Sony's "recommended" levels) you should be fine.

That said, the A7s3 is even easier to match.

I'd vote for the a7sIII over the FS5 as well (certainly if only needing good audio to one camera and not both). And very much enjoy using CineMatch.... when using two different camera's for multiple angles. It will make your (or your editor's life) so simple with just a few clicks....
