master pedestal comparisons

a couple months ago there was a link on this site that showed a picture of each of the master ped settings. i was wondering how i could get to that again, i'd like to see the difference between them all.

thanks,
joey

is the mp used mainly for lite or dark situations? should the dark situation have negative or postive settings?

It just depends on how much detail you want to show in the shadows. If you want to see into the shadows, you use a higher setting. If you want the shadows to be darker, drop it until you're happy. It's one of the easier settings to adjust by eye. Play around with it a bit and you'll see what I mean.

Does cranking it up add a ton of noise?

I don't think it adds noise (but I may be wrong, because I've never had it higher than -6), but it does make your picture look extremely milky.

is it true that if you milk the image through the master ped in camera then crush the blacks some in post you can get the best contrast ratio?
